The villages of Copala and Concordia are to the easy in the foothills Sierra Madre mountains. Each have a very rustic feel, and are incredibly pleasant to walk around in. Each town features an old beautiful church that really give you a sense of the past. The towns also specialize in furniture and pottery making, so their wares are very interesting to check out.
The village of El Rosario is also a great destination for a side trip. It was once one of the richest mining towns in northwest Mexico. The town has an altar in its church, which is said to be worth over a million dollars. El Rosario also has the old colonial feeling that many of the other villages in the area share.
